In 2006, John Richards, a writer and film-maker (and my brother-in-law) asked me to take on a small role in a short film he was making. Outland was the result. The short film made the rounds of gay and lesbian film festivals for a few years and can now be found on YouTube in three parts.
Outland was then picked up by Australia’s ABC TV and made into a six-part comedy series. It’s hopefully due for release in early 2012. I showed up to be an extra in the final episode, though I don’t know if I’m visible in any of the footage. I have seen all six episodes in a private screening, and I promise you it’s a cracker!
The official trailer has been released: check it out!
When it comes on, look out in one of the episodes (three or four) for The Opposite of Life and Twelfth Planet Press’s awesome book Horn, by Peter M Ball, in cameos. At least my book made it in, even if I didn’t.
In October 2011, Outland the TV series had its world premiere at the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award – Special Recognition because everybody loved it so much.
