1. What’s the name of your latest book – and how hard was it to pick a title?
Tearing the Shroud. It was a mixed bag as far as difficulty, picking it was easy, but the process wasn’t. The title was originally Tearing the Veil. After writing most of the novel, I found another book with a similar title and didn’t want any confusion so I changed it to Shroud and quickly came to prefer it. Then, in Book two of the series I found myself creating the mythology of how the Shroud got its name. I tied in the Veil name change as part of the story…it was enjoyable and surreal at the same time.
2. If you could choose anyone from any time period, who would you cast as the leads in your latest book?
Tearing the Shroud has primary and secondary male MC’s. For Vincent I think Robbie Amell and for Coleman, Heath Ledger around his Knights Tale age. To play Jule – I don’t know her name but in The Flying Scotsman, there is a scene where a minister is talking to the cyclist and they show a picture of his deceased wife. Whoever she was, it caused me to pause the movie and say “Oh my gosh, that’s Jule!” Here she is:
3. What five words best describe your story?
Exciting, Romantic, Smart, Layered, Fun.
4. Who is your favourite fictional couple?
Westley and Buttercup from The Princess Bride – “As you wish.”
5. What song always makes you cry?
Nearer My God to Thee. I always liked the song, have it on the “play at my funeral list”, but when the lead musician turns to the band in Titanic and says, ‘Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing with you tonight’ …then they play it as the ship sinks. Gaaa I’m getting misty just typing it. Anna Weatherup has a good version.
