And for Christmas 2011, here’s a short story for you, about what happens when a primary school Show and Tell gets a little out of hand.
While I have mainly concentrated on writing novels during my career, I’ve also written a play and tried my hand at short stories.
The first short story I had published was Newsworthy, written in a gumshoe-detective style about a man whose job it was to create the news. Literally. It was published in Pelt #8 in September 2002.
In 2010, my first short story in many years is The Truth About Brains, about a teenage girl whose brother is turned into a zombie. She’s trying to fix him before mum finds out. The story was published in Best New Zombie Tales Volume 2, edited by James Roy Daley. You can get that as a paperback or as an e-book:
- Best New Zombie Tales (Vol. 2)
(Kindle)
- Best New Zombie Tales (Vol. 2)
(Paperback)
Stay tuned in 2011 for Showtime from Twelfth Planet Press. Showtime is part of TPP’s 12 Planets series and will contain four short stories, including a story featuring Gary and Lissa from The Opposite of Life.
